Feather poll: Christmas vacation activities

This year, Christmas vacation is from Dec. 17- Jan. 2. The Feather interviewed 20 students to informally inquire as the activities students would participate in during the break. Here are some of the results.

–49% of the student body will be out of town for Christmas break.

“Over Christmas break, I plan to fly over to Las Vegas to visit my grandma. We are going to go see all of the different locations there such as the New York, New York center, and there is going to be a Christmas performance in the Mandalay Bay Hotel. It’s going to be so much fun!” Kevin Davis, ’02, said.

–36% of the student body is going snow boarding.

“This Christmas break I am going snowboarding at Sierra Summit. I love to snowboard, I’ve been snow boarding for two years now,” Rusty Tucker, ’04, said

–79% will be spending Christmas morning at home. 79% of the student body has special Christmas traditions.

“Every Christmas break, my family and I enjoy making videos where we mock each other and imitate them in a goofy way. Then we all watch the videos and laugh up a storm,” Carina Moran, ’05, said.

–40% said they are volunteering for activities.

” I am doing the Star Tree at my church. We will buy a child a toy, clothes, or art supplies and I will deliver them to the Poverello house,” Lauren Taylor, ’03, said.

–33% of the student body is working at a job over Christmas vacation.

Other students’ vacation plans:

“I will be spending the whole break playing basketball,”–John Wiens, ’02.

“I am going to L.A. to see my relatives and to go shopping,”–Tiffany Kaiser, ’03.

“My family is coming down to visit us, but I’m not going anywhere,”–John Wilborn, ’03.

“I’m going to hang out with my friends and going to San Fransisco to visit my family,”–Lindsay DeCosta, ’02.

“My brother Jake is coming home and I’m going to sleep most of the time,”–Seth Fisher, ’04.

“Going to my Aunt’s house to open presents at midnight and play basketball,”–Tara Thompson, ’04.
