Dear Editor:
The outlook of this years boysí soccer team looks promising.
I share Matt Markarianís excitement in the Dec. 14 online article, “I am excited to win a league game before Christmas.” I agree with Markarian when he said, “This will give us some momentum as we head into the Garces Tournament.”
This year our team focuses more on shadowing each other during the game. This paid off when Ryan Taylor finished my deflected PK in our recent game verses Liberty.
Despite our soccer teams past year records, this year’s team works well together. The team no longer relies on one player to dribble through four defenders and score a goal.
At practice Coach Markarian has been focusing on a strong midfield. We have been practicing the effectiveness of third man runs. Using the third man creates more openings and opportunities to break through the defense and score.
If our team utilizes our ability to cooperate with each other on the field, we may be able to triumph over opposing teams in the Garces Tournament on Dec. 16-17.
