In honor of the 101st Veterans Day, local radio host, Paul Loeffler, interviews 95 year-old WWII veteran Norris Jernagin during the annual Veterans Day chapel, Nov. 12.

Jernigan enlisted in the air force at seventeen years old after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was positioned on a special task force with the B-29 bombers known as the Enola Gay.

He reflects on his WWII service including the secret mission to drop the  atomic bomb. Jernigan shares his perspective on that controversial decision and the impact his service has had on his life. Words of wisdom to the students were to stop the spread of hatred, love as Jesus loved, share your life, fears, sorrows with one another, and above all spread love!

Jernigan, who has flown on the Central Valley Honor Flight to visit the WWII memorial in Washington D.C. stopped by Kori James fourth period U.S. history class who watched the Honor Flight movie in class. Sharing that experience with fellow veterans was an opportunity of a lifetime that he will never forget.
