[/media-credit] Fresno Christian’s first girls’ golf team opens new opportunities for seasons to come.

This year, Fresno Christian formed their very first all-girls golf team. The team of six girls ranging from freshmen to juniors all decided to join the team together. Looking at this unique opportunity to gather during a pandemic, the girls were ready to begin.

Ashley Logan, ’22, shares her excitement and why she decided to join the team.

“I decided to join the golf team because I really enjoy playing golf,” Logan said, “I thought it would be something super fun to do with my friends, and it would be a great opportunity to get some more coaching and more experience,” Logan said, “With a lot of things being canceled because of covid, Paige and I decided that we should totally just go for it because why not!”

The first practice was February 25th and the last on March 23rd. During practices, the girls worked improving their driving, chipping, and putting. On longer practices, the team had the opportunity to play 9 holes at the Vally Golf Center and Airways Golf Course.

Competitions between girls golf teams were held at The Madera Country Club. Although there weren’t many competing girls golf teams, the girls were able to compete against Hoover High School and Madera High School.
