Carrie Underwood has created 8 albums and 29 singles. She starred in the fourth season, in 2005, of American Idol, making it to finals, where she won. After her victory, Underwood’s career took off. Receiving numerous Grammys, Country Music Association (CMA) and Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards.

Underwood released this album through Capitol Records Nashville and produced it with David Garcia, who also produced her album Cry Pretty.

Underwood’s album My Gift, released September 25, 2020, and My Savior share a close connection. According to iHeartRadio, Underwood talks about these two albums being on her bucket list since the beginning of her career.

“These two albums have been on my musical bucket list since the beginning of my career and were planned long before the events of the past year, but somehow it feels like the perfect time to share these beloved songs with the world.” – Carrie Underwood said to iHeartRadio.

In 2008 Underwood was encouraged, by her bassist, to meet Canadian NHL star Mike Fisher. They had their first date and first kiss on New Year’s Eve in 2008 at Times Square. A year later, Fisher proposed to Underwood. Not long after, the couple sealed the deal at a Ritz-Carlton resort located on Lake Oconee, Georgia.

Fisher and Underwood’s first baby was born on March 3, 2015. In 2019 they were blessed again with baby Jacob who was born on January 21, 2019.

My Savior debuted on top of the Billboard’s Country and Christian Charts, even reaching No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

All 13 songs on Underwood’s album are traditional hymns she used to sing during her childhood.

Best selling female gospel artist of all time, CeCe Winans, features on one of the songs in the album: Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Underwood and Winans both performed, April, Easter Sunday at Underwood’s online concert.

Underwood’s album starts with an all-instrumental song: Jesus Loves Me. Harmonica is the main instrument, and personally, I am not a big fan. Many others may love it, however I do not tout it as highly as others do.

After Jesus Loves Me comes one of my favorite songs on the album: Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus. This song is more on the folk side rather than Gospel.

My first time listening to Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus, I was taken away. The rhythm and music caught my attention, but once I heard it again, the words started to draw me in even more.

We all go through tough challenges in life and end up wondering what can take us out of the mess we created, or we think why I am lucky enough to be made brand new? This song is a gentle reminder that it’s all because of the blood of Jesus.

The next song on my list gave me the realization that I’m allowed to love because Jesus first loved me. The song is: O How I Love Jesus. Sometimes we forget the meaning of love, and a lot of the time, we take it for granted.

Underwood and David produced this song amazingly. The soothing piano and strings in the back gave me a calming sense of relaxation. Sometimes you need a moment to close your eyes and sway back and forth with the music.

Carrie Underwood performed at the ACM music awards and was joined by CeCe Winans, April 18, 2021. Their performance was impressive. Both artist’s vocals were outstanding, giving me chills throughout my body.

These songs were a great fit for Carrie Underwood’s new album. She did a fantastic job, and I am so glad that I was able write a review on this album.

My Savior is available on all digital platforms, including the making of CDs and soon-to-be-released vinyl LP, April 30, 2021.

CDs are available online on Amazon and Carrie Underwood’s website. CDs on her website cost $11.99, and on Amazon: $10.97. Both do not include shipping. Target and Barnes and Noble (providing bonus tracks) also sell Carrie Underwood’s new album on CD.
