In March 2020 Covid-19 brought many theme parks to a screeching halt with the hopes of quickly re-opening. More than a year later after thousands of lost jobs, furloughs, and the loss of social interaction. California’s most popular theme park, Disneyland, officially opens today, April 30.
As other amusement parks have slowly opened their gates this last month, many are left to wonder how new guidelines will affect their visit and how to secure a reservation. California amusement parks currently open are Santa Cruz beach Boardwalk, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Disneyland. Great America plans to ope in May.
Disneyland
Open at 25% capacity.
In order to visit the park you must purchase a ticket and make a reservation at the same time. The reservation calendar is viewable on https://disneyland.disney.go.com with weekends filling up fast.
Right now the park is only open to California residents and you large groups are not permitted. It is necessary to follow the Covid-19 health guidelines regardless of the 25% capacity.
If you feel uncomfortable entering the parks, DownTown Disney is open for shopping and eating.

Magic Mountain
Open at 25% capacity.
You must have a reservation and a season pass to enter the park. Tickets will not be available at the front gate due to COVID-19 mandates. If you want to make a reservation go to https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/reserve.
Concerning the coronavirus, visitors must enter through a temperature screening and follow the health guidelines.
Great America
California’s Great America is planning to reopen May 22, 2021
To enter the park it is compelled to provide further information about your health and friends/family coming with you. It is required to wear a face covering except while at a dining table or bench, or you are not welcomed in.
Only limited parties can enter the park and cannot be more than 3 households let in. Concerning Covid there are many sanitizing stations throughout the park.
