Choir creates confidence

After vacationing in Disneyland, Aaron Bryan, choir director, began rehearsal with the three campus choirs for the “Broadway to the Big Screen” Concert on May 17.

While Bryan continues to prepare for the annual Spring Concert, he is organizing next year’s choirs by holding auditions for women?s chorale and ensemble on April 27.

Among experienced upperclassmen, freshman Olyvia Franklin auditioned and will be in women’s chorale and ensemble. Since sixth grade, Franklin has participated in campus choirs. Franklin currently sings for worship team at her youth group as well as women?s ensemble and women?s chorale.

?I love having Olyvia in choir,” Bryan said. “She always keeps me on my toes. She has always been a good singer, but through this year she has really gained confidence.?

Due to the lack of class periods, members of the Women?s Chorale rehearse Monday nights from 5-7 P.M.

?There is absolutely nothing that I don?t like about choir,” Franklin said. “I love everything about it; I am able to practice and perform with all of my friends. I really like the choir trips, plus he’s (Bryan) very funny and he makes choir more fun.?

In addition to singing, Franklin plays the piano, which she contributes to helping her with pitch and finding the correct key.

?I started piano because I really liked the sound it makes; I eventually would like to learn to play guitar,? said Franklin. ?My music really helps me improve my voice.?

Franklin believes choir to be an important asset to the campus, because those who sing can associate with others with the same interest.

?Choir has really helped me through the years; it has gotten me much more involved with the school,? Franklin said. ?It also lets me meet new friends each year. I get to become closer with older choir members rather than just people my grade.?

The choir will start their year finale at 7 P.M. Although the location is pending, it is expected to take place in Ground Zero.

?I anticipate that the concert will be a lot of fun and very laid back,? Bryan said. ?They will be singing songs from musicals; it will be very colorful and fun.?
