Selland Arena hosts Sadies

Bodies weighing 200 pounds slammed against padded walls while students watched and sat on the edge of their seats for the annual Sadie Hawkins on April 21.

Some entered the Selland Arena curious to see and experience the look of a live indoor Central Valley Coyote football game.

?I had never seen an arena football game,? Kelsey Penner, ?08, said. ?It was something new and so the whole concept of it was exciting for me.?

Although the Coyotes led the game up until the second quarter, Tri Cities Fever came back and held a five-point lead in the last 15 seconds to end the game 49-44.

?I was upset the Coyotes lost because of the football being dropped,? Doug Daniel, ?10, said. ?I mean once you have the ball in your hands there?s no excuse to drop it.?

After a three-hour game students boarded the buses at 10:30 P.M. and headed for dessert at Tahoe Joes.

?I ordered the cheesecake and there was a lot of frosting,? Scott Orcut, ?09, said. ?It was cool being able to eat after the game and joke around with my friends.?

Although there were complaints about the duration of the game, student leadership considers the event a success.

?I thought the event went smoothly,? Jessica Berg, ?07, said. ?We accomplished our goal of uniting the student body and the turn out was better than expected. Although the Coyote game seemed a little long, I thought the dessert and fellowship at Tahoe Joes was a great way to end the evening.?
