Students will have an opportunity to display their art at the ACSI Art Festival.
Projects by 31 art students will be judged at the event at Merced Christian School on May 5.
Two campus students will attend the event with Sharon Scharf, art teacher.
“The ACSI festival is a great chance to compare our art with other Christian schools,” Scharf said, and the students look forward to it all year. I always get ideas from the other schools, and share ours as well.”
Senior Megan Joy will not attend the trip, but her art will represent her.
“The art show is a great opportunity to show my artwork, and it’s an exciting event,” Joy said. “I look forward to hearing the results.”
Students from grades kindergarten through 12 come from all over California to compete in the event. The type of art varies and includes drawings, paintings, mosaics, wood burning, collages and sculpures. The panel of judges give each piece a rating of either superior, excellent or good.
Two students will accompany Scharf on the trip: sophomore Mary Sargent, and Megan Stewart, ’11.
“For the art show, I made of collage of Half Dome with strips of colored paper,” Stewart said. “Mrs. Scharf chose me to attend the event, which is a big honor. I’m really excited to represent my school.”
Scharf’s art students will finish the year with a mosaic project and a ‘found object’ art piece.
