Seventh annual Valentine’s Concert

FC choir and music director, Susan Ainley, hosts over 315 FC parents, students and faculty, filling the Student Ministries Center for the seventh annual Valentine’s Concert ‘Love Song’, Feb. 12. 

Each year, high school ensemble and chamber choir spend weeks prepping for this concert to showcase their individual talents. This night includes a variety of love and breakup songs from

beloved artists such as Lionel Richie, Paul Anka, Colbie Caillat, Louis Armstrong and Sara Bareilles. 

This year’s concert, ‘Love Song’ consisted of 15 solos including Paige Deffenbacher, ‘24, Serenity Cortez, ‘24, Paul Cross, ‘22, Andrew Scully, ‘23, Audrey Walstad, ‘24, Madi Foster, ‘23, David Tuck, ‘22, Ellianna Gonzalez, ‘23, Sarah Upshaw, ‘23, Derek Degroot, ‘22, Madison Gallegos, ‘24, Ava Flores, ‘24, and Jana Williams, ‘24. The concert also showcased four duets sung by Derek Degroot and Madi Foster, McKenzie Sue, ‘24 and Sophia Adams, ‘24, Paige Deffenbacher and Andrew Scully, David Tuck and Sarah Upshaw.

Gonzalez has sung in the Valentine’s concert for three years, this year singing ‘Hello’ by Lionel Richie and ‘Heartbreaker’ by Pat Benatar.

“Chamber is a very unique experience,” Gonzalez said, “We all respect the class and want to put the work into what we produce. I see the work that others put in and how our collective commitment makes a difference.”
