Robert Foshee’s Economics class hosts the 15th annual Econ Fair at lunch, March 30. Seniors are allotted four weeks to create their product, budget, advertise and market to eventually sell their creation to the students.
Foshee originated the fair in the early 2000s as a way to make real-life activities applicable to his class.
Students, Henry Baker, Soren Sobrado and Mason Beal create the “Wokce Slush” as their product which was marketed towards the younger classmen.
“I like that I get to work with my friends giving people great stuff to drink and we’re making money,” Baker says.
Students are graded based the presentation, the advertisement, budgeting, prototypes and the reflection paper. A large sum of the students used Instagram as a way to advertise their products before the sale.
Freshman Milly Morgan bought a drink from “Sweetish Sisters” created by Trent Wilson, Ashlee Gallegos and Carlee Zamarripa as well as a waffle from “Waking up with Waffles” founded by Haley Wedeking and Isabella Hutcheson.
“As a freshman, I thought it was pretty cool,” Morgan says. “I got to see everything, walk around and ask people questions before lunch started because Mr. Foshee is my 5th-period teacher.”
