The start of homecoming ramps up as excitement grows among students and staff for the hectic, yet thrilling week. Leadership students work hard to accomplish a fun experience for all students, rallying school spirit. Each class receives spirit points based on their participation, while the grade with the most points wins a pizza party. This year’s theme is ‘Dreaming through the Decades!’
The first homecoming dress-up day, Sept. 19, was a blast from the past. Students dressed up inspired by the iconic fashion trends within their favorite decade. The most popular costumes seen on campus were heavily influenced by the ‘50s and the ‘70s.
Julianna Briggs, ‘26, has enjoyed the homecoming festivities so far and is excited for the remainder of the week.
“It’s super entertaining to watch the pageants,” Briggs said. “It’s cool when they’re your good friends too.”
Each class exceeded expectations of engagement and the outfits amazed fellow peers. The points gained just from today place each team head to head with one another. Tomorrow, let your toes out with open-toed shoes for ‘Toes Out Tuesday.’
Princess Pageant: Minute to Win It
The princesses are showcased competing in amusing games at the first pageant.
Kemya Hopkins, ‘24, won the one-armed tissue paper challenge. The next challenge had each competitor eat an Oreo off their face while not dropping it. Zoe Blanchfield, ‘25, came out victorious.
Freshman Jordyn DeGroot plays for varsity volleyball as one of the middle blockers. DeGroot was surprised by the outcome of the princess canadites.
“I didn’t expect the be voted as a princess, and I’d love to thank my friends because they really wanted me to get it,” Degroot said. “I’m most looking forward to having my dad alongside me on homecoming night.”
