It is never too late or early to receive help that benefits you on your path to college from high school, no matter what grade. Andy Hernandez, Yale Alumni and application consultant, firmly believes in this idea.

According to Hernandez, the contemporary student faces many challenges that students decades ago never dealt with. Athletic and high academic achieving students tend to be recognized by college recruiters earlier than those years ago. It is optimal for students to do more sooner than later to be able to compete for the colleges they desire.

Hernandez consults students during the application process and feels that pursuing their passions is in the student’s best interest. Amrit Singh, a senior at Sanger High and one of Hernandez’s clients, exemplifies this aforementioned pursuit.

Having been inspired by robotics in third grade, Singh continues pursuing his passion in high school. He is a leader in his Robotics team and a member of the Engineering club.

“It is never too late to pursue your interests,” Singh said. “You can still do a lot in a short span. If you join a club, self-study, or learn from someone who knows a lot, you can still learn a lot during that time.”

Whether receiving help is finding a way to pursue your passion or receiving advice about a college application, Hernandez and Singh believe it is never too early or late to seek help.
