Fresno Christians Spanish teacher Marianela Aguilera introduces a new favorite assignment for all Spanish classes: Taco Truck Showdown, Jan. 31.
Aguilera, in her fifth year working at FCS, is known for her enthusiasm for Spanish and the unique crafts she creates every year. Spanish I, II, and III are offered to high school students which creates a challenge for Aguilera to create new curriculum and projects every year.
Past assignments
- Frida Kahlo: Self Portrait based on a Mexican artist named Frida Kahlo.
- Piñatas: Students hand-crafted piñatas out of scratch.
- Taco Truck Showdown: students create Taco trucks with homemade food to serve to fellow students.
Aguilera encourages creativity in this year’s new assignment and expects to repeat it in the following years.
“I especially loved the food, students came with so many different types, the amount of traditional foods was my favorite,” Aguilera said. “Some students created their own Mexican food, asada burgers, Mexican styled pizza, but the best food I saw this year was the tostadas.”
We are excited to see what Profesora comes up with for next year’s students. To read more about Aguilera visit Profesora reveals a more personal side.
