    TOGETHER WE CAN FOOD DRIVE: PINEDALE ELEMENTARY
    Any students who want to help support the families with children at Pinedale Elementary School may bring canned goods to give to the families. The cans will be collected until Dec. 12. Donations of money are also accepted in cash and check form. If sending checks, please indicate Food-Pinedale on it.     CHRISTMAS DRESS-UP DAYS
    All students are encouraged to dress-up on the following days to celebrate the Christmas season.
    Dec. 5: Ugly Christmas sweater day
    Dec. 6: Red and green day
    Dec. 7: Nativity day
    Dec. 8: Santa’s workshop day
    Dec. 9: Christmas morning — Pajama day

    CANDY CANE GRAMS
    Feather staffers will be selling Candy Cane Grams to all students during lunch for $1 until Dec. 13. All money raised will go to support the Evangel Home which helps women and children during bad times. The grams can be given to friends, parents and grandparents. Fill out the note that goes to the gram and leave it in the journalism lab and they will be delivered Dec. 14.

    PSAT RESULTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE
    Happy holidays from the Academic Advising office! There is good news for those who took the PSAT last month–the PSAT results are in! Students will receive their personalized scores during their English classes, Dec. 7, with their original test books. Students will be instructed to reference the ID number at the bottom of their report in order to log onto the College Board website where more information about the scores may be accessed.

    Molly Sargent will visit English classes Monday, Dec. 12, as well in order to answer questions students may have about their results. If parents or students have any questions, please feel free to contact Molly Sargent.

    SURPRISE MOVIE
    All students will be on chapel schedule Dec. 9, but instead of attending chapel, a surprise movie will be shown in chapel, lunch and 7th period. Students are excused from their 7th period classes.

    SPANISH CLUB
    Due to the surprise movie being shown on Dec. 9 during lunch, the service project day for Spanish Club has been moved to Jan. 13, 2012 at 12:35 p.m. The representative from Mennonite Central Committee, Mike Rea, will come and present the school kits and instruct the club on what to do.

    SOFTBALL WORKOUTS
    Fall workouts for softball will continue for the rest of the semester, to Dec. 16, on Mon., Wed. and Fri from 3:30-4:45 p.m. All students interested may attend, but please come prepared with athletic clothes and shoes. If students own a bat, cleats and a glove, those are also needed. Mandatory practice for softball begins in January.     CHESS CLUB
    A new club will be starting up every Sat. called The Fresno Chess Club – Scholastic Chess. All students kindergarten to 12th grade are welcome to come and improve their game. The meetings will be in the FCS Music Suite from 1-4 p.m., free of charge.

    LETTERMAN JACKETS
    Any student athletes who are intrested in a letterman jacket should visit the Athletic Department. First String Sports has the jackets in stock. All of the jackets must be one kind and color with the base color as gray.

    FALL SPORT ATHLETES
    All fall sport athletes and their parents are invited to the Fall Sports Banquet, Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the JJ Room. The athletes will be honored for their participation and accomplishments this season. Please RSVP to Michelle Regnerus at [email protected] or at 559-299-1695 ext. 123.

    NOTS CLASS MEETINGS
    Any students interested in helping out with their Night of the Stars movie may attend the meeting Dec. 12 at 12:35 p.m. Room dates will be announced later.

    GRADUATION DEADLINES
    All orders for Jostens graduation items are due by Dec. 12. For more information, contact Molly Sargent.

    WINTER SPORTS PICTURES
    All winter sports teams will be taking their pictures by Milne Photography, Dec. 13 in the FC Gym at 2 p.m. Schedules and informations for the order of teams will be available later.

    CHRISTMAS CONCERT
    All members of the music department will be performing in the “Round the Table Carol Sing” on Dec. 14 and 15 in the FC Gym. The concert starts at 5:30 p.m. and members of bands, choirs and ensembles in the high school and junior high will all celebrate the Christman season with festive music and song. Tickets are free but spectators may reserve seats on a decorated table through Tina Brown. Refreshments will also be served.

    In preparing for the Round the Table Carol Sing Program on Dec. 14-15, the music department needs cookies! cookies! and more cookies! Department head Michael Ogdon says they still need about 60 dozen more. If anyone is interested in baking or buying and bringing them on the 13th or the MORNING of the 14th, please bring them to the band room.

    SAILING SKILLS AND SEAMANSHIP COURSE
    A comprehensive course on the fundamentals of sailing will be taught Jan. 7 and 14, 2012. The course is taught by instructors with years of experience in sailboat operations. The class is from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. by Douglas Lazo at the Clovis Memorial Building. A class in boating safety will be taught Jan. 11 and 18, 2012 from 6-10 p.m at Clovis Marine. Flyers are available in front of the school offices. Participants must be in 5th grade and above. The fee is $35.

    CSF TUTORING
    Every Wed. at 3:05 p.m., California Scholarship Federation will be providing tutoring in Room 621. Help will be offered for free in all school subjects and all students are welcome to come.

    GOLF SEASON
    Any students interested in playing for the golf team in spring may pick up a informative pamphlet giving details for the upcoming season. Practice starts in the middle of January but students still in winter sports should still pick one up. All information may be found from Michelle Regnerus in the Athletic Office and/or call 559-299-1695, ext. 123 or 124.

    LETTERMAN JACKETS
    Any student athletes who are intrested in a letterman jacket should visit the Athletic Department. First String Sports has the jackets in stock. All of the jackets must be one kind and color with the base color as gray.

    ATTENDANCE CALLS
    Parents, be sure to call Lisa Dooley in the junior high/high school office when your kids are going to miss a day of school and this includes sickness or personal trips. The telephone number is 299-1695, ext. 125.

    FOOTBALL UNIFORMS
    All football players need to turn in their equipment to Coach Mick Fuller immediately.

    SPORTS FEES
    All sports fees and the athletic packet with an attached physical are due before the athlete will be allowed to participate in a game.     FRESNO STATE SCHOLARSHIP
    Seniors, if you are interested in attending California Scholarship Federation, in the fall and believe that you may qualify for a President’s Scholarship from the Smittcamp Family Honors College, please see Molly Sargent for application details.

    COMMUNITY COLLEGE HONORS PROGRAMS
    Fresno City Community College and Willow International Community College both have honors programs available to qualifying students. Those would like to attend two years of community college and experience challenging classes with the promise of UC admission, contact Molly Sargent. Additionally, The Feather Online outlined the application process through Viviana Hinojosa’s Nov. 29 article, “Honors Programs provide gateway into UCs.”

    CLUB LUNCHES
    Any clubs and teams interested in earning money may fundraise a lunch on a Friday to raise money. Please contact Michelle Regnerus in the Athletic Office and/or call 559-299-1695, ext. 123 or 124.

    SPIRIT PACKS
    The school spirit packs are available for $25 in Robert Foshee’s Room 608. Each pack includes a Nuthouse T-shirt, lanyard and bracelet. Spirit wear may be purchased in the high school office. For more information, contact Robert Foshee.
