LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Any parent interested in the services the Learning Resource Center offers to students should attend the parent information night on Oct. 28, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Jackie Johnson Hospitality Room, Building 6. The guest speaker will be Jamie Evans, the senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church Fresno who has ADHD, who will share his story of overcoming his disorder.
OPERA TRIP
Tom McEntee and Molly Sargent will be sponsoring a trip to see The Phantom Of The Opera at The Orpheum in San Francisco, Dec. 5. They will leave school at 2:30 p.m. (during 8th period) and return at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Students interested must pay a $100 fee to cover the ticket (balcony center) and the charter bus. A non-refundable payment of $50 is due by Oct. 31. The balance will be due in mid November. Students will need to bring additional money for dinner on the way; $20 is suggested, although extra money for programs and other souvenirs may be desired. SPANISH CLUB OFFICER ELECTION RESULTS
Spanish club members voted for club officers at the Oct. 24 meeting and elected Andrew Rurik for president, Abby Schoettler for vice president, Sydney Ray for secretary, Brian Weskamp for public relations and Scott Thao for treasurer.

CSF TUTORING PROGRAM
CSF members will host a table for students to sign-up for the CSF tutoring program on Monday during lunch in the GZ courtyard. This program is a free service for students who need assistance with specific subjects on a temporary basis. For more information, contact CSF tutoring program director Natalie McCallum or CSF adviser Molly Sargent.
HS BOYS’ BIBLE STUDY
Every Friday at lunch there is a Bible study for high schools boys in Room 623. Coach Sorenson will be there to lead the discussion. For more information, contact Sorenson.
ALL SCHOOL SERVICE DAY
FCS service project day will occur on Nov. 5. Junior high and high school students will serve in the community. School will run from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., but instead of classes, the students will help at various organizations. It is considered a regular school day and attendance will be taken. More information to follow.
CSF OFFICER ELECTION RESULTS
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) voted for club officers at their Oct. 7 meeting, electing Natalie McCallum for tutor program director, Andrew Rurik for treasurer, Austin Ward for historian, Suzanna Quiring for vice president and Chelsea Joy for president after a run-off with Elizabeth Grossman.
SERVICE ACADEMIES
Senior interested in applying for any of the service academies (West Point, Air Force, Naval and Merchant Marines) must pick up an application from Molly Sargent. Applications are due Nov. 1.
SISTER2SISTER PROGRAM
The Sister2Sister program signups are underway. This program pairs junior high girls with a high school girl to be their friend and role model in an effort to facilitate the transition from elementary to junior high. As such, “big sisters” are not primarily intended to provide counseling or give unsolicited advice.
Junior high girls interested in the program must complete and submit a form with parental permission. Forms are available in the JH office and must be returned by Oct. 24. For more information on Sister to Sister, contact Molly Sargent at 299-1695 ext. 126.
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
Entertainment Books are one of the best fundraisers for your students and for the school. The cost is $25 and students can save up to 50% on restaurants, movies and activities.
After the sale of the first book, junior and senior high students can designate $7 per book sold to fund their school activities, such as sports, drama, band, choir and CSF.
For those who send 5 to 10 e-mails to their friends about the entertainment books, students can win a game download or a chance to win a Nintendo Wii.
