FCS, BUCHANAN ANNUAL COLLEGE FAIRS
The FCS Annual College Fair will take place Tuesday, Sept. 18 at lunch. Representatives from well-known Christian colleges around the U.S. as well as some from trade schools will be present. There will be raffle for students to win some college memorabilia.
Christian College Fair — Buchanan High
A Christian College Fair will be hosted at Buchanan HIgh School, Sept. 18. This will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Approximately 30 Christian colleges will be there, including Azusa Pacific, Biola, Fresno Pacific, Point Loma Nazarene, Westmont, and Whitworth. The fair will be held in the multipurpose room, and a map of the campus and parking can be found here. This fair will have most of the same schools that come to the FC fair in addition to many other colleges.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ON STAGE NOW
PARENTS, STUDENTS and community supporters: Good Company Players and 2nd Space Theatre are currently staging Harper Lee’s inspiring tale, To Kill a Mockingbird, now through Oct. 14. Based on the iconic novel by Harper Lee, this powerful play is set in a quiet southern town in the summer of 1935. We see it all through the eyes of young Scout, whose father Atticus goes to court to defend a young black man amidst an atmosphere charged with threats and hostility.
The junior class will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird during the fall semester. This is a great opportunity to take in the story to enhance the reading experience.
Tickets are now on sale at the box office. It is located in the lobby of Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre, 1226 N. Wishon, at Olive and Wishon in the Tower District. Individual ticket are $16 general admission; $15 students & seniors. Showtimes are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays & Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The 2nd Space Theatre is at 928 E. Olive Avenue, at Olive and Van Ness. CSF MEETING
There will be a CSF meeting Friday, Sept. 21 at lunch. Bring your lunch.
SPANISH CLUB
Spanish Club has a meeting Friday, Sept. 28 at lunch. Students must turn in their application and dues to Vicki Belmont in the high school office. Applications are available in the Spanish room. Spanish club members: do not forget to bring the lyrics of a Spanish song to suggest as the theme song for this year.
SENIOR COLLEGE INFORMATION NIGHT
College Information Night for students and their parents is on Monday, Oct. 1, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Jackie Johnson Room. Michelle Warkentin will be resenting information on all things related to college, from scholarships to college applications. Attendance is recommended.
JUNIOR/SENIOR CAL POLY TRIP
The Cal Poly trip will be held Monday, Oct. 8 from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to qualifying juniors and seniors. Upperclassmen must have a GPA of at least 3.50 to be eligible. If you meet these qualifications and are interested, please sign up with Academic Adviser Michelle Warkentin.
THE FEATHER NEEDS CAMPUS MEDIA
The Feather needs videographers, photographers, and other media talents. Talk to Greg Stobbe, journalism adviser, if interested.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT NEEDS TALENT
Junior and Senior High School students are strongly encouraged to join choir, band, percussion, and colorguard. Musical adviser Michael Ogdon needs a pianist for jazz band also; see him in the Music Suite. Principal Todd Bennett and Academic adviser Michelle Warkentin can make schedule changes that can enable you to participate.
FALL SPORT SIGNUPS
Signups for fall sports in high school volleyball, football, cross country and track and junior high volleyball and cross country will be outside the athletic office. Football workouts for 8th-11th grade will begin May 15 and be held every Tues.-Fri. from 3:15-5:30 p.m.
DETENTION WARNING
Tardies will be strictly monitored starting this week. If a student receives three or more tardies in a class they will serve lunch detention.
