BOOK BUDDIES
Campus students have been involved in the Book Buddies program at the Pinedale Elementary School for a few years. This program helps students with low reading skills to improve their abilities (often, English is their second language). Tests reveal that the Book Buddies program improves the reading level of the participants dramatically.
The Book Buddies program will be every Thursday, beginning Oct. 22 until Dec. 17 from 12 to 1:15 p.m. A commitment must be made for the entire program. The elementary children feel very rejected when their Book Buddy does not show up. Participating FC students will miss chapel to serve others.
The Book Buddies training will be Monday, Oct. 19 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in the J.J. Room. The students must bring sack lunches that day. All those who plan on volunteering must participate in the training.
CONGRATS TO ERIC JOHNSON
Senior Eric Johnson entered a Hawaiian shirt he made in the home ec class. He won Best of Show at the Big Fresno Fair and was presented a Singer sewing machine. His next project? Could it be a Hawaiian shirt for junior Kory Thompson?
LUNCH ON RAINY DAYS
Lunch will be eaten in Rooms 602 and 604 instead of in the GZ Quad on days when it rains.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL MANAGERS
Girls’ basketball is in need of one or two managers for the season. There are many perks to helping out. Contact coach Josh Tosland for more details. It can be a boy or a girl who can manage.
BOYS’ SOCCER MEETING
All boys interested in playing HS soccer, please attend an important meeting at lunch on Monday, Oct. 9, in the Ground Zero cafe. Coach Markarian will provide important information and give highlights about the upcoming season.
