Pick a card, roll the dice, and solve the mystery at “Family Game Night,” Fresno Christian’s 39th Annual Homecoming, Oct. 7-11. The week’s agenda is filled to the brim with preliminary festivities including creative float building, dress-up days, competitive princess pageants and an epic royal lip-sync battle. These events build anticipation toward Friday night, when the Eagles will face rival team, the Sierra Chieftains, on the football field and the royal court will strut the red carpet during half time. This year, the FC community has made it a priority to fundraise for Central Valley Honor Flight; the nonprofit organization has made it their mission to honor surviving war veterans by flying them to Washington D.C. to see the memorials in person.
Nearing the end of this action-packed week, the fun activities of Homecoming continue. The excitement builds as the final adjustments are made for each float for everyone to see on Friday.
Dress-Up Day: Guess Who
Today, the teachers’ and students’ clothing are swapped for the, ‘Guess Who’ theme. Students come to school dressed as teachers, while teachers come dressed as students. To earn spirit points for their class, students must dress in theme.
English teacher Stephanie Hoffman dressed as she would any other day, yet she unconsciously twinned with several students who recreated her iconic cardigan and messy bun look.
“It was definitely entertaining hearing how other students mistook people who were dressing up as me, for me,” Hoffman said.

Royal Battle
The homecoming tradition of Royal Battle arrives again with new contestants. Taking the place of this week’s chapel in the Student Ministry’s Chapel, students watch the senior king and queen candidates battle using their lip-singing and dancing skills. History teacher and Feather advisor Kori James annually hosts the lively event; James kicked the performances off with a Just Dance tribute to Flo Rida‘s song “Good Feeling.” The senior nominees were paired into couples and spent numerous hours preparing choreographed performances to popular songs. Each couple showcased their moves and competed for the win, winners were crowned with bragging rights.
1st: Milly Morgan & Braxton Bay – “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars
2nd: Julia Castiglione & Aden Milwee – “Umbrella” by Rihanna ft. JAY-Z
3rd: Rynna Silva & Caleb Iest – “Timber” by Pitbull and Ke$ha
King candidate Caleb Iest alongside his partner, queen candidate Rynna Silva, sacrificed sweat and time to perfect their dance to “Timber.”
“I believe all the work was worth it. I think the students definitely enjoyed this year more than past years since our group of seniors is very talented.” Iest said. “It is a blessing that the group of candidates are all friends because it made all of the strenuous practices more fun.”
King and Queen Pageant: Human Battleship
The princess pageant games concluded yesterday but that allowed for the king and queen candidates to participate in a game of their own. Today’s game was human battleship. Candidates sat on either side of a border and attempted each other with water balloons. Both before and after the game, the candidates were interviewed with various questions to persuade students to vote for them tomorrow. The kings and queens were pitted against each other, but the queen nominees took the win after a close game.
Queen candidate, Milly Morgan looks back on the time spent on homecoming activities and experiences.
“I loved the whole entire process of it! It was definitely a lot of work, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!” Morgan said. “Looking back on it, it was so fun, and I will miss it all!”
Senior Float
The senior class has been hard at work finishing their Super Mario-themed float. The class of ’25 has dedicated countless hours to painting, building and furnishing their float at their base location, Lyla Hinton’s home. Being a float host is no easy task but Hinton has taken it on gracefully.
“I’m very excited but very stressed,” Hinton said. “It’s a lot more work than I thought but I think seeing the students’ reactions makes it all worth it.”
Grace Mynderup ‘25, has helped with the float all four years of high school and enjoys that the senior class gets to spend time together while building the float.
“You can build unexpected relationships from it. Just hanging out.” Mynderup said, “I think each year we all put in the same amount. Some years were more fun than others, but everyone definitely pitched in each year.”
