    Want to represent FC in the biggest parade west of the Mississippi?
    One practice qualifies students to march with the FC percussion line and color guard flag team Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. by the gym.
    The Veteran’s Day Parade parade steps off in downtown Fresno on Nov. 11. Buses will transport all FC participants and adult sponsors. Students must sign up by Nov. 1.

    Fresno Christian Student art is being exhibited Nov. 4-10 at the Clovis Memorial Building. Elora Hargis, Julianna Rosik and Shannon Martens will all be representing Fresno Christian with their art in the Clovis Art Guild Fall Open Show. Martens also has two pieces of artwork on display until Christmas at Allard’s Art Supplies on Blackstone next to Trader Joe’s.For more information, visit the Clovis Art Guild website here.

    EXTENDED DATE: “Thank you for bringing Operation Christmas Child boxes!” Robert Roshee said. “We’re 16 from 100 so please bring one more. You can still bring it to school on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Thanks!”

    Each year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoebox gifts to children in desperate circumstances around the world. In addition to bringing happiness to boys and girls who otherwise wouldn’t receive any presents, Samaritan’s Purse also opens doors for presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ. Through children’s literature and evangelistic programs, many lives are changed for eternity.

    FC would like to invite you to join us this year as we reach out to boys and girls in the name of Jesus Christ. The goal is to collect 250 shoeboxes at FC by Nov. 7 for children who face a daily struggle against war, persecution, disease, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect. Please pray that God will meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

    This year the high school classes will compete to see which class donates the most boxes. The winning class are awarded with a pizza party!
    If you have any questions contact Maddie Luginbill, Allison Breedlove or Robert Foshee. They will give you any information or boxes that you need! FC would like to beat last year’s number of 75 boxes. Good luck!

    FC will be hosting the PLAN test (practice for the ACT) on Wed Dec. 4. This test is for sophomores and juniors who are interested in taking the ACT their junior or senior year. Please sign up with $13 to Vickey Belmont by Nov. 8 if you are interested.

    On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, area churches, businesses, and agencies will participate in the Convoy of Hope Fresno to give tangible hope to families living in situations of human need. You are invited to share in this united act of compassion by being a light to those in need. On this special day, at the Fresno Fairgrounds, thousands of guests from across our community will receive free groceries, prayer for personal needs, and free discipleship literature. Guests will also receive free health services, community services, live entertainment, lunch, games and activities for children, church follow-up and much more.

    Volunteers Needed!
    The Fresno Convoy outreach will serve approximately 15,000 people in need on Saturday, November 23rd. We have several volunteer opportunities!

    Saturday, November 16, FCHS is hosting the Hustlin’ Eagles Youth Basketball Clinic. Boys and girls, from kindergarten to 8th grade may participate. Each player will recieve indivdual instruction from the Fresno Christian staff and players. Each camper receives a program and t-shirt. The clinic costs $40, with $10 for each additional child. K-2 grade will play from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., 3-5 grade from 12:30 p.m.-2:30, and 6-8 grade 3 p.m.-5. Participants are asked to arrive fifteen minutes earlier than the session start time to register and receive their t-shirt.     FC drama’s thirty drama students will be presenting their production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” on Nov. 15-17 in the Student Ministries Center (Ground Zero). The showing on Saturday will being at 7 p.m. and the Sunday showing at 4 p.m. Regular admission will cost $5. Students pay $3, and teachers may attend free. Seniors Natalie Ruiz, Tynin Fries, Kyle Hudecek, Robbie Hill, and Aliciana Quintana will give one of their last drama performances. The play will present the classic Christmas story from the Bible, but with a unique twist.

    There will be a senior meeting on Tuesday, Nov 5, at lunch in Rm. 608 to go over and discuss the senior shirt design and senior trip. Seniors who want a say in the shirt’s design should attend this meeting.

    Book Buddies meet starting Oct. 31 and will continue to meet every other Thursday. Please meet by Robert Foshee’s room to eat lunch before leaving. Book Buddies take a bus to Pinedale to read to the younger students. You can read last year’s article on Book Buddies here.

    The FC boys Basketball program is looking for two team managers for the upcoming season. These individuals would be responsible for keeping stats and filming for the varsity team. A third person would be helpful for the JV team as well. Managers will receive team gear, travel with the team and be with them during their playoff run. If interested, please give your name to the HS office.

    POMEGRANATE JELLY Sharon Scharf’s Home Economics classes are making jelly next week, Nov. 4-8, so there will be a limited number of jars for sale in the HS office. First come first serve, they will be $10 a jar.

    Seniors, it’s time to plan for graduation! Friday, Nov. 1, there will be a mandatory meeting for all seniors. A representative from Jostens will be on campus to show you what is available to order.

    FC high school is hosting a Dessert Concert on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Student Ministry Center. The Percussion Ensemble, Adoration Ensemble, Kingsmen Quartet and FCS Jazz Band will preform. All proceeds from the dessert auction will benefit the Music Department’s travel fund.

    FC’s 2013 Homecoming court was decided Oct. 25, during the homecoming game. The court is as follows:

    FC won the game, 56-6. The senior class’s float placed first, with sophomores coming in second. About 100 alumni came to chat with alumni director Gary Schultz in the library.

    FC is excited to announce the formation of a debate team. Forensic Debate Teams offer students the opportunity to carefully research both sides of a topic and argue either side effectively. Earn your FC Letter! All interested students should attend an information/sign up meeting at lunch, Oct. 23, in Rm 628.

    Want to tell your story of how God is working in your life? The leadership chapel group is looking for someone to be in the next chapel video.     To access the vault, students use their first and last name, with a space in between as the username. The password is each student’s ID number. If a student does not know their ID number, see Vickey Belmont in the high school office.

    To access PowerSchool, student use the same login, but without a space between their first and last name in the username.

    Journalism adviser Greg Stobbe is leading a 10-day educational tour to Paris, France, next summer. If you want to visit Europe next summer, he has an itinerary published, outlining each day’s activities. Stobbe has room for a few more students and parents on the custom trip scheduled to leave in June 2014. He already has 13 travelers signed up.     International students that would like help with English can receive help from senior Jason Kim on Thursdays during lunch in room 627.

    If students need to have papers printed from the high school office, they need to leave their flashdrive in the tray on Vickey Belmont’s desk. The paper will be printed when there is time for the office staff or aides.

    Percussion needs more players – Percussion Ensemble meets 4th period. It counts either as a music elective or as PE credit. See Music Director Michael Ogdon for more information.

    Are you interested in learning how to play and sing in a worship band? Worship 101 is a class that will help you grow in technology and music leadership. This is a 1st period class.
