    WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JAN. 10

    NOTS INFORMATION
    Fresno Christian’s “Night of The Stars” will be held on Feb. 15 at The Grand 1401 Fulton in Fresno. NOTS is FC’s only formal event of the year. Each High School class makes a movie to present that day, and students attend the event. It is like the Academy Awards, as awards will be given for the movies that the classes put together. The event starts at 5:00 for pictures and ends about 10:30 or 11:00. Dinner will be served to those who attend.

    THE FEATHER RECEIVES CSPA’S GOLD CROWN, GOLD MEDAL
    After Christmas the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) at Columbia University in New York published a Scholastic News Digital Critique for The Feather’s efforts during the 2013 calendar year. For the second year in a row, CSPA awarded Fresno Christian High School’s newspaper top scorebook honors; The Feather earned all three All-Columbian honors and a Gold Medalist placing, scoring 983/1,000 points.

    Additionally, The Feather Online earned one of 10 Gold Crown nominations as one of the best digital newspapers in the United States. This is the sixth year in a row The Feather has earned a Crown from Columbia University but the campus paper will only find out whether it is Gold or Silver during the upcoming March journalism convention in New York.

    PSAT INFORMATION
    PSAT test results are in for those who took the test. Michelle Warkentin will be presenting information on how to read and understand your test results Jan 8 in Greg Stobbe’s English III classes. If you are not a Junior but took the test, please report to Stobbe’s 2 or 5 period in Rm. 623 at the beginning of the class period.

    CSF APPLICATIONS
    CSF Applications can be picked up from Vickey Belmont in the High School office. Second semester Freshmen are encouraged to apply for CSF. Application forms and the $5 fee must be turned into the office no later than 12 pm on Jan. 15.

    FREE APPLICATION FOR FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID
    FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) applications are due March 2. The filing period for the application is Jan 1-Mar 2. This form determines student’s eligibility for federal financial aid/grant money for college. All seniors are encouraged to complete this application by going to the the FAFSA website. Before starting the application, students or parents must first apply for a PIN through the FAFSA website. FCHS will not be hosting a FAFSA workshop this year, however students and parents are encouraged to go to the California Student Aid Commission websiteto find a Cash for College workshop in to attend. By attending and filing the necessary forms, students will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship.

    INTERESTED IN PLAYING GOLF THIS YEAR?
    Experienced golfers new to FC who would like to join our championship team should email Coach Jeff Hopper so he can put you in the loop for team announcements. Tryouts and practice begin Jan. 21. Email Coach at [email protected] and visit the FC Eagle Golf web site here.

    MOMS IN PRAYER
    K-12 moms are invited to pray for the students and school with the prayer group, meeting every Friday morning from 8-9 a.m. in Peoples Church, Rm. 204. Come be a part of this vital ministry! Questions? Call Janet Moore 448-0947

    BACKPACKS AND SPORTS BAGS
    Do not leave any backpacks or sports bags at the end of or near the stairs. This causes a hazard to people walking up and around the stairs. Speak to Mick Fuller as to where you can keep the sports bags.

    Lunches are always provided for the cost of $6.
    Monday – No lunch Scheduled

    Wednesday – Farmer Boy’s; Grilled Chicken salad, dessert, and water
    Thursday – No lunch Scheduled Friday -No lunch Scheduled
    Teachers, at the beginning of second period, please take lunch count, then iChat/email lunch count to Mrs. Belmont.

    CHAPEL SPEAKERS NEEDED
    Want to tell your story of how God is working in your life? The leadership chapel group is looking for someone to be in the next chapel video.     THE VAULT, POWERSCHOOL
    To access the vault, students use their first and last name, with a space in between as the username. The password is each student’s ID number. If a student does not know their ID number, see Vickey Belmont in the high school office.

    To access PowerSchool, student use the same login, but without a space between their first and last name in the username.

    WANNA TRAVEL TO PARIS IN JUNE, 2014?
    Journalism adviser Greg Stobbe is leading a 10-day educational tour to Paris, France, next summer. If you want to visit Europe next summer, he has an itinerary published, outlining each day’s activities. Stobbe has room for a few more students and parents on the custom trip scheduled to leave in June 2014. He already has 13 travelers signed up.     PUBLICATIONS CLASSES NEED YOUR HELP
    After a successful past eight years of covering campus events, The Feather Online, in need of more staff to cover video, photos, slideshows and other multimedia events. Please contact editor-in-chief Tynin Fries or adviser Greg Stobbe for more information. Join one of the top online daily newspapers in the United States.

    INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
    International students that would like help with English can receive help from senior Jason Kim on Thursdays during lunch in room 627.

    PRINTING IN OFFICE
    If students need to have papers printed from the high school office, they need to leave their flashdrive in the tray on Vickey Belmont’s desk. The paper will be printed when there is time for the office staff or aides.

    MUSICIANS NEEDED
    Percussion needs more players – Percussion Ensemble meets 4th period. It counts either as a music elective or as PE credit. See Music Director Michael Ogdon for more information.
    Men’s Ensemble is auditioning for some more singers – The Kingsmen meet 3rd period. See Music Director Michael Ogdon for more information.
    Are you interested in learning how to play and sing in a worship band? Worship 101 is a class that will help you grow in technology and music leadership. This is a 1st period class. See Music Director Michael Ogdon for more information. Colorguard Flag Team needs more members – Colorguard meets 1st period. It counts as a PE credit. See Music Director Michael Ogdon for more information.

    ATTENTION: CLUBS AND ATHLETIC COACHES
