    Announcement: 2014-02-26

    By Emily Ladd, Writer.

March 6 all of the FC high school student body will participate in a serve day. Students will take busses in the morning and returning by bus at 2:30 p.m. Students need to bring their own lunch to eat on the worksites. Students have the opportunity to visit a rest home, serve New Life For Girls, clean up graffiti, read to elementary students, work on a community garden, clean a park, hand out fliers for Neighborhood Thrift, and serve at a food bank. For more information, contact Robert Foshee at [email protected]

The following is a letter from Kim Schapansky with the details about the Choral Festival:

The FCS Choral Music Department will be hosting our very own Fresno Favorites Festival this Thursday, February 27. We will be meeting together with several other schools from the area in the People’s Church main auditorium beginning at 9:00AM. We will be singing for each other, rehearsing a mass choir song, and will culminate the day with a concert at 2:00PM.

Here are a few details about the day that you should know about:

Students should attend their first period class and then go to the PC (People’s Church) auditorium for the remainder of the day. They should wear their FCS Music t-shirts.

Students may bring their own lunch or they will have the option of buying a hot lunch. This will be provided by Farmer Boys and will consist of a BBQ beef sandwich, french fries, a GIANT onion ring, and water or soda. All for $6. Students who wish to order a hot lunch should come prepared to pay their money when they first check in at the festival. Exact change would be appreciated.

We will also be having a snack break in the morning. I could use the help of a couple of parents who could come set this up for us and then clean up after we are done. The snack is scheduled to begin at 10:20AM, so you’d need to be there by 9:30/9:45ish and would be finished around 11:00. If you are able to help with this need, please let me know. We’ll be serving muffins, water, and juice boxes.

If you are able, please join us for the concert at 2:00PM. Each school will be performing a couple of songs and then we’ll be doing two selections from Handel’s Messiah as a mass choir.

The high school drama productions will be performing Bye Bye Birdie, March 7 at 7 p.m., March 8 at 7 p.m. and March 9 at 4 p.m. The performance will be in the Peoples Church Student Ministries Center (Ground Zero). Adult tickets cost $10, student and senior tickets, $5. For more information about showings and tickets, contact Susan Ainley via email.

Senior Daniel Moore has been nominated as a Finalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program. 15,000 students were promoted from the Semifinalist to Finalist standing. Between March and June, 8,000 of these students will be selected as National Merit Scholars to receive various scholarship awards (Merit scholarships are $2,500, however various college/corporation scholarships may also be awarded).

In the coming weeks and months, Fresno Christian will have a lot of exciting things to share about the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program at Fresno Christian Schools (which officially launches in August 2014).

In order to make it easy for families to follow updates and announcements, we will send communication related to our BYOD program from a single source. We also want to provide a simple way for parents to ask questions, make comments, and voice concerns. To support those two goals, we have created a new email account: [email protected].

All announcements related to our BYOD program will come from this new email account, so keep your eyes peeled for updates from [email protected].

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns related to the BYOD program, please send an email to [email protected].

We look forward to partnering with you as we pursue our vision for technology at Fresno Christian Schools.
