CONGRATULATIONS MADDIE YEE
Congratulations to sophomore Maddie Yee – she came in 3rd in the West Sequoia League in the Varsity Girls 5 K Cross Country race held Nov. 3 at Riverdale High School. Congratulations, Maddie!
RED BUCKET FOOD DRIVE
The campus is holding a class competition food drive in order to make Red Bucket holiday dinners. The dinners will go to families in Fresno as well as FCS families who need a little help during the holiday season. Whichever class puts the most buckets together will win a Mother Mary’s Pizza and garlic knots lunch, and will get to help deliver the buckets around town. Support your class and our school by making as many buckets as you can! The buckets are due Nov. 12.
POMEGRANATE JELLY
The high school home ec. class made pomegranate jelly this week and has a few extra jars. They will be sold to the first people who can get to Mrs. Scharf before they are all gone. The cost is $10 for an 8 oz. jar; the proceeds all go back into the home ec. budget.
NOTICE: SCOOTERS NOT ALLOWED
Scooters are not allowed on the Peoples Church campus or inside any buildings. The only places where scooters are allowed to be ridden are the parking lots. Violation of this rule will result in scooters being confiscated. Scooters will only be returned to parents.
EUROPE TOUR PLANNED
For the first time in four years, English teacher and publications adviser Greg Stobbe is organizing a summer trip to Europe. A planning meeting for the June 2011 tour was held on Oct. 25. Stobbe will accept early applications until Nov. 10 when a $600 deposit is due.
Stobbe is planning a 14-day WWII trip that will include stops in Amsterdam, Bruges, the beaches of Normandy and Paris. A proposed itinerary and enrollment information are now available through Stobbe by e-mail at [email protected]
or in the publications room. Stobbe has led 12 previous student/parent tours to Europe.
FCS COMBINED BAND TO MARCH VETERANS DAY
A combined elementary, junior high and high school band will march in the 91st Annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Fresno, Nov. 11. The band will be joined by the flag team and the cheerleaders, with step-off scheduled for 11 a.m. The event will be televised by KSEE (Channel 24.1) and on the Web on the The Pentagon Channel.mil. Be sure to watch the slideshow from last year’s event by reading Bands unite for 90th Veterans Day Parade.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT SELLS MUFFINS
Music department students are selling muffins, croissants and vitamin water every morning for $1 each. They are sold outside Building 6 from 7:15 to 7:50 a.m. The proceeds benefit instrumental and choral groups.
PARKING PASSES
Parking passes for the high school lot are now available. In order to obtain yours, first get the parking pass form from Mrs. Sargent. Fill it out, then take it to Mrs. Regnerus in the high school office with the $10 semester fee and your California driver’s license.
You will not be issued a pass if you do not show your license when turning in the form and money. Students with parking passes may park in the main Alluvial lot and in the slots adjacent to the gym. Starting Aug. 30, vehicles that do not have a parking pass will be cited and possibly towed.
