Led by choir director, Susan Ainley, choir members perform at the 10th annual Valentine’s Concert. “A Decade of Love,” unfolds in the SMC chapel with two shows, one at 4 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the second show had to be purchased in advance for seat reservations. All of the tickets sold out as the chapel filled with friends and family.
This concert takes place once a year, with this being the first year for two shows. This concert allows students to showcase their musical abilities to the audience. The performers dedicate many hours to preparation for this special night.
This year’s shows consisted of a total of 18 songs, including some classic love songs, a few breakup songs, and several tributes from past Valentine concerts.
Junior Bella Hess has performed in this concert since the eighth grade and hopes to attend Westmont College on a music scholarship.
“I was nervous before getting on stage but once I was up there my nerves went away and I was able to be in the moment,” Hess said. “I am looking forward to performing one last time!”
Throughout the event, songs varied from cheerful love songs to heartfelt musical pieces. Let us know what your favorite performances were in the comments.
