In an effort to support the campus and community, Fashion Fair’s School Cents program initiated The Red Bucket food drive. Campus leadership aims to raise contributions to 75 buckets after 62 donations last year.
Donations will benefit needy campus families and those earmarked by World Impact.
Hundreds of Valley families will receive a holiday meal while participating schools receive 5,000 points for every bucket donated. The school that earns the most points receives a cash prize, which can go towards any area administration wants.
“Our first priority is to serve the community,” Brenda Warkentin, elementary secretary and School Cents coordinator, said. “We would also like to increase our chances of winning the points reward again. Last year, we received $2500 and we would like to remain among the top point collectors.”
The event advertises the charity as a family project. This also offers an opportunity for parents and children to unite for the cause of helping others.
“I plan on giving a red bucket,” Tyler Revis, ’10, said. “I think it’s important to help others, especially during the holiday season. I also want our school to get points so we can win the cash prize.”
Faculty also encourages teachers and students to involve themselves by purchasing a complete dinner through a cash donation or collecting the various food items.
Monetary donations must be turned in to either office by Nov. 9 and food donations by Nov. 14.
The program sends the gathered red buckets to World Impact and FC families in need. For more information call Vanessa Markarian at(559) 940-3721 or e-mail her at [email protected].
