The Fresno Christian Band presents its annual Spring Concert, led by band director Lindsey Clarno. Held at the GL Johnson Chapel, the band performs “Under Construction” for friends and family. Throughout the night, band members play different selections of music. Three different bands perform: Jazz Ensemble, Eagle Band and FC Band.
The concert is called “Under Construction” because the show isn’t fully completed. This festival gave students a chance to practice and prepare for the upcoming festival.
The concert starts with the Jazz Ensemble performing “Ain’t Misbehavin.” In total six pieces of music were performed by Jazz members. Sisters Chara Jacobs, ‘27, and Elissa Jacobs, ‘29, played “Fontaine Waltz” as a duet. Some of the songs Jazz played include, “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Here Comes the Sun” and “The Nocturnal Firmanment’s Luster.”
Following this, the Eagle Band performs seven songs, including “Conquest,” “Down Deep,” and “Minuet.” Soloist Olivia Geil, ‘28, plays the flute to perform “A Town with an Ocean View.” The FC band played one song, “Jupiter,” as the last performance.
Junior Olivia Saldivar, a Jazz Ensemble and FC Band member, has been in the band for six years since the fifth grade and plans to join the music program at the University of Hawaii.
“I enjoy playing in the band, I think it’s a cool program to be a part of and I like being able to make music with all my friends,” Saldivar said. “I was nervous during the concert but had fun playing with everyone.”
Come show support for the FCS band’s next concert on April 24 to see the finished product.
