Senior Economics students turn the People’s Church gym into a marketplace as they sell self-made projects April 15. During Wednesday lunch period, students line up for 26 different booths serving meals, drinks, sweets and crafts.
The project aims to teach the class what it means to be an entrepreneur. In the world of entrepreneurship, brainstorming, creating a product, making a budget, advertising and setting up make key elements to success. Advertisements fill the walls as the fair approaches.
Economics teacher Robert Foshee supervises the project, promoting the booths on a microphone throughout the event.
“The goal is to expose the students to the many parts of being an entrepreneur,” Foshee said. “This includes taking a risk by bringing a product to market, working alongside a partner, putting together a budget, marketing their product, and understanding the groups they’re selling to.”
Junior Parker Bagley-Tew, admires the creativity of the booths, eating from several during the Fair.
“My favorite part of the Econ Fair was definitely everyone’s set-up,” Bagley-Tew said. “All of the advertising, decorations, and the effort that the seniors put into their businesses was fun to see. I loved everything I ate and drank.”
