Gaming Review: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle embarks on new adventure

Indiana Jones is an identifiable persona across the movie world, but has made a prominent appearance in the gaming industry recently. “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” is the latest installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, originally released December 9, 2024, on Windows and Xbox Series X, now coming to the PS5 on April 17, 2025.

“The Great Circle” brings the Indiana Jones experience to life with its stunning visuals and interactive gameplay taking the players through the first and third person perspectives of Indiana Jones as he sets off to solve another daring mystery ahead of him.

The game kicks off as Indy begins another adventure to stop the Axis Powers from taking control of a power that is connected to the Great Circle, which is known for numerous significant archaeological sites around the world, to form a perfect circle on a map. As the story progresses, you are taken across Europe through the Vatican City, Giza, the Himalaya Mountains, and more.

The game falls under the action-adventure genre, tasking players with intriguing puzzles and various challenges throughout the story. In “The Great Circle,” levels are designed with alternate routes to reach the objective, allowing greater freedom and exploration, alluding to new discoveries to be found within the game. During exploration, you can collect Adventure books, which help boost weapon durability and strength, while also enhancing Indy’s health and combat skills.

I enjoyed a lot of the features showcased in “The Great Circle.” The first is the implemented stealth tactic system, allowing your character to crouch and hide behind large objects to keep yourself hidden from the enemy’s sight, and also being able to sneak attack enemies without being seen. Another feature I liked was the combat and weapons system; the variety of objects you can use varies from guitars to broomsticks to bats, and so much more. With combat, Indy is put into melee fights against enemies where he can punch and push them away, he can also block attacks and parry or dodge them, depending on your timing, adding a fun yet challenging aspect to gameplay.

One major issue I encountered with the game was how extensive the graphics were on my PC. Since the game was made with high-quality visuals and huge world levels it requires very strong PC builds to be able to smoothly run the game at a stable rate. I also encountered many frame loading issues and moments in the middle of a cutscene where my game completely crashed due to the game’s intensity.

Altogether, the game had an entertaining and cohesive storyline, great gameplay features, incredible graphics, and good voice acting. I would recommend giving this game a playthrough, preferably only if you have a strong PC to run it.
