Whether swinging a bat, making a tackle or scoring a goal, Braden Belmont, ’26, continues to exemplify what it means to be a multi-sport athlete. School keeps him focused, and afternoons shift into practices and games. Evenings often bring homework and family time, a steady routine that helps him grow on and off the field. Belmont prepares every day for the challenges that come with being an athlete, developing consistency, hard work and striving for excellence.
Approaching his fourth consecutive year making CIF 8-man football playoffs, Belmont is no stranger to the field. Belmont is a versatile athlete who plays football, soccer and baseball; entering senior year, this is a feat not many can claim.
Belmont’s sports journey began at the age of three. He cycled through several sports and activities early on, from recreational soccer to wrestling. What seemed to be a childhood phase would go on to change the course of his life.

As a sixth grader at the Clovis Unified School District Wrestling Championships, Belmont entered the bracket as an underdog. Despite the odds against him, he battled his way to a fifth-place finish, sparking a key glimpse of the determination and competitive nature that he exhibits today.
Belmont’s mother Jamie Belmont, also a decorated athlete in high school, reflects on her son’s determination and the impact shown through his character.
“Our family loves competition, so it was just natural to start him early,” Jamie Belmont said. “Sports taught Braden to always be a good teammate and friend, while working hard to achieve his goals.”
When schedules get busy and motivation runs low, Belmont heads to the field, gym or weight room. The calm and ever-changing landscape for athletics pushes him forward as he grows and accomplishes more than he ever thought possible.
After all the late hours spent practicing and traveling for games, Belmont comes home to a busy house full of three siblings. His family always has each other’s back, whether that is cheering from the sidelines or spending quality time bonding over the beauty life has to offer. With the insurmountable pressure that comes with senior year Belmont has learned how to find the balance that allows him to excel at both maintaining classes and competition.
Belmont credits much of his success and who he is as a person to his dad, FC alumnus Casey Belmont. From deep conversations to “nerding out” over shared passions, his dad’s support encourages him to keep striving to improve.
“What I admire about my dad is that he has always been hardworking,” Belmont said. “Having him by my side all the time truly helps me.”
The drive to surpass perceived limits didn’t just stay within the confines of home; it translated to the way Belmont competed. Even at a young age, he faced any challenges head-on, turning any obstacles into motivation to grow stronger.
Assistant FC Football Coach Tyler Breedlove has been coaching Belmont for all four years of high school. Breedlove praises his “coachability” and quiet edge.
“Braden has been a great player to coach because of his willingness to listen,” Breedlove said. “He is sneakily competitive; although he doesn’t show it often, we coaches know he wants to win.”

In the midst of it all, Belmont looks to be a light on the field and lead with a bigger purpose.
“There is a level of wanting to play for your family and just represent them, and especially Fresno Christian as a community,” Belmont said. “Being able to push and work towards something is very important in keeping me accountable.”
Out on the field, Belmont has always been quiet and calm when it came to leadership. Except this year is different; Belmont took a big step into uncharted waters, leading his team by example. Bringing the energy every single game and serving his teammates, Belmont has blossomed into not only an amazing athlete but also an amazing role model.
Through the long seasons and memories that last a lifetime, Belmont aims to compete with integrity while leading with humility. His faith anchors him as it says in Hebrews 6:19: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” He seeks to honor Christ in every aspect of his life–as a teammate, student, brother and captain.
