Fresno County Blossom Trail is a 70-mile trail on the outskirts of southeast Fresno and is one big loop. The trail starts at Simonian Farms and has various stops along the way: Blossom Trail Cafe, Blossom Trail Fruit Stand, Hillcrest Tree Farm and many more.
The ideal time to visit the trees is February to mid-March when they are blossoming. The trail is a popular spot for teenagers, families and photographers. The property that the trail sits on is private; you can drive along the trail and take photos, but you are not allowed on the property.
Fresno Blossom Trail has over 10 different types of fruit and nut trees:
- Almond trees – produce white blossoms and live from Late August to early October
- Citrus – Mandarin, Navel, Valencia, and lemons are the most common citrus grown locally. Citrus trees are covered with a fine mesh to keep the bees from pollinating the flowers.
- Apricot – This tree has white petals that sometimes have a hint of pink. The harvest season for apricots lasts 2-3 weeks during mid to late May.
- Peach and Nectarine – Produce pink and red petals and bloom at the same time. The harvest runs from mid-May to October.
- Plum – This tree produces white petals. Over 200 varieties are grown commercially. Plum trees harvest in June to late September
- Apple – The harvest is from August to November. This tree makes white petals and can grow up to 6 different varieties in Fresno County.
