Student of the Year: Scott Orcutt

While high school kudos and awards focus on academic and athletic success, true leadership and individuality often go unrewarded and unrecognized. However, The Feather Online would like to acknowledge those who commit themselves to bettering our campus and community.

For this reason, The Feather editors have chosen to honor senior Scott Orcutt as our first FC Student of the Year.

Throughout the year, a theme of revival on campus has been touted by administration, faculty and students alike. While some students were unwilling to put in the effort to institute the changes, Orcutt stands out to us as a catalyst for spiritual restoration.

While he doesn’t lack intelligence or athletic ability, it is clear that Orcutt’s true focus is on relationships and improving the school. Along with a small group of other passionate students, he meets at 6:30 a.m. each morning to walk and pray for the school.

In addition to acting as ASB president, Orcutt has spoken and led prayer in chapel. He does not, however, limit his dedication to visible platforms. Although he may not receive many awards at the final chapel, Orcutt’s unseen influence is, on some levels, more potent than those who keep to themselves and ace every class.

Orcutt has earned the respect of the school ? demonstrating honest vulnerability through both weeping in chapel and performing a dance to “Fergalicious” during the homecoming king race, which he won.

In his attempts to ameliorate chapel and the student body, Orcutt has established his genuine desire for healing, both physically and spiritually. He speaks sincerely, not in hollow words but from the passion he feels for Fresno Christian. For this reason we recognize Scott as a commendable student and leader, who has changed our campus for the better.
