Relationships foster success

As we kick off the new school year, I want to take some time to express my gratitude and excitement about joining the Fresno Christian educational team and share my vision and goals for the upcoming year.

Each day I thank the Lord for this awesome opportunity. The teachers, staff, students and parents have made me feel so welcome and encouraged. Beginning with my first day on the job, I have been overwhelmed by the positive atmosphere. Each evening during our in-service week, I went home and told my family how impressed I was with the teachers and staff.

From the first day, we began the day with worship and praise songs led by our student worship band. Every adult in the room was excited about having the students in our meeting. I was able to include the band members in a group activity with the teachers. It really opened my eyes to the sense of community, and the deep devotion our teachers have for the students.

My daughter and son were so moved by my enthusiasm, they decided to transfer to Fresno Christian.

As a new member of this successful organization, and being given the opportunity and responsibility to lead this team, I am committed to serving the students, community and teachers. Following Gary Schultz and Jon Endicott is no easy task. These men helped to build a very successful school, with a rich history and culture.

Every student matters at Fresno Christian. During the opening weeks I have had the opportunity to attend several parent/teacher conferences. Whether we have been addressing the needs of students with limited English competency, or those with learning challenges, the teachers all put the needs of the individual student above their particular programs and classroom structures.

I am indebted to Mr. Schultz, Mr. Endicott and the teachers for the culture they have created, not just for myself, but also for our students (including my own children).

My vision for Fresno Christian is to help develop systems that foster continuous growth and improvement. We are not a broken school in need of reform, but a high-performing educational institution with a commitment to provide each student with opportunities for academic success.
