This letter is in response to the March 19 article, The Feather earns Gold Crown.
Congratulations to The Feather Online editors, staff and its adviser for continual hard work, persistence, high expectations, work ethics, joy of working together and for achieving recognition from sources who know what’s excellent in high school journalism.
I enjoyed reading through all the comments to learn that The Feather was a recognized name by those in the know at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Spring National Convention. To be given a salute by one of the speakers was, indeed, an impressive gesture.
I have seen The Feather develop from hard copy journalism tool to online journalism media which can be read and appreciated by anyone anywhere in the world who have access to the Internet. I’ve also seen tremendous improvement in the basics, e.g. no more grammatical blotches which used to make me cringe, honed writing skills and a vast variety of topics to be enjoyed.
Thank you for not giving up when it becomes totally tedious towards the end of the year to have to write another article. Thank you for being who you are and for your curiosity which prod you to cover news and features with your special blend of spice.
Thank you for letting the Lord of Life work through you to express His creativity. Thank you for reaching for the highest, for excellence often opens the door to share about the One who challenges us to Excellence. Truly, every one of you is awesome, created in His image!
Yoko Kilbourne is the high school secretary.
