In just a few short days, perhaps even hours by the time this article hits the Internet, I will be a Fresno Christian alumnus. It is an extremely difficult and mind-boggling concept to grasp.
I first came to Fresno Christian in the sixth grade, from Mountain View Christian School. Even though I have been here for seven years, the time has flown by. The impending finality of it all has yet to set in, and most likely won’t until I walk across the stage and receive my diploma.
The blessings that have been given to me over these years are countless: the first and foremost being a faith-based education. The benefits of receiving such an education are many and widely applicable in the real world, which we will be a part of so soon.
The education that I have received here has prepared me not only for college and a profession, but it has equipped me with the ability to minister and share Christianity with my future classmates, friends, co-workers and acquaintances.
Another thing that I greatly appreciate Fresno Christian for is the relationships that teachers take the time to build over the course of the year. This is perhaps the foremost benefit of going to a small school, be it Christian or otherwise.
Over the course of the school year I have had the opportunity to build relationships with teachers that have taught me in their classes ? and even some that have not.
Even though Fresno Christian has been a great experience for me, I am ready to move on. Despite my eagerness to attend Pepperdine University in the fall, I will always look at FC as the place where I grew up ? one of the most influential forces in my life to date.
The memories that have come from my experience in high school, which are almost too numerous to count, hopefully will remain with me throughout the rest of my life.
Some of my best memories this year come from worship band. Every day second period I was blessed to go from the hardest class of my day, AP Literature and Composition, to worship band, in which I got to hang out with my friends and play worship music. This experience helped me grow both spiritually and musically as well.
Although worship band had its ups and downs, like everything does, it was great; the good far outweighed the bad.
All of the classes I have taken throughout my time here changed me for the positive and have given me skills that will be of great value to me.
It is because of these things that graduation is bittersweet for me. Moving on to college sounds awesome, but all of the relationships, acquaintances and good times that I have had over the years are going to be difficult to leave behind.

The “one-point perspective names” project is one of my favorites. When all the students have their completed names on the wall, it looks like a Star Wars credit with all the names coming towards the viewer! I’ll see former students years later who will tell me they still have their names on their walls!
