The FCS marching band is ready to play its first performance at the Reedley Fiesta Parade, Oct. 9. The parade, sponsored by Rotary Club of Fresno, will be held on G Street in downtown.
Through regular practices, director Michael Ogdon believes the band members are prepared for the performance.
“In addition to separating the class periods, both group combine every Tuesday evening for marching practice. They are joined by the color guard and twirlers to be sure that all the groups march together well,” Ogdon said. “My expectations for the parade are to go in and do our best, but we are really young. It’s hard to know until after the parade what our capability is.”
For freshmen who joined in the band, this first parade will give them opportunity to showcase their skills.
“I’m so excited, and it’s so cool that we are marching in the shape of a cross,” Chloe Duerr, ’14, said. “I feel like we represent God.”
The junior high and high school bands will play along with the color guard and baton twirlers. In addition, the drum line will perform “High School Cadets,” by John Phillip Sousa.
The combined band, totaling 27 students, is one of eight local bands participating in the parade.

I love this picture – it absolutely captures Brookie’s approach to life – which is no holds barred, all-out, take it to the limit, just go for it! Yeah Brookie!

Brooke looks so hilarious. It’s more like a flying squirrel, hence my title. I love this! she is so crazy looking. We should show the world….

This picture is just perfect. Even if her PK didn’t quite make it in the net, Brooke looks pretty darn awesome taking it. Way to go, keep up the hard work and optimism!

Brooke I love your move. It makes me want to become athletic. Actually it reminds me of some sort of stunt out of an action movie. Next year we should do some sort of Jackie Chan movie and you should be the girl villain he faces and be doing this killer move that you are doing in this photo.

In my defense for this half embarrassing, fully unathletic picture, I’m brand new to soccer… even though I had actually been practicing PK’s. This picture’s hilarious! I actually do make those weird faces. At least you can tell I tried…
And yes, I did actually kick the ball.

I love this picture! It captures Brooke in one shot. She can be serious while playing hard or laugh and joke around. Nice kung-fu!
