Get to Know: Stephen Grimes

This installment is the second in the “Get to Know” series, a feature which aims to help students learn more about their classmates and teachers. A new installment will be posted every other Thursday.

In this edition of “Get to Know,” staff writer Maddie Yee, ’13, interviews senior Stephen Grimes.

Yee: Why did you come to FC, and for how many years have you attended this school?

Grimes: I came because my mom got a job at FCS when I was in fourth grade. This is my ninth year at FC.

Yee: If you could have any car, what car would you want?

Grimes: I would want a Corvette to speed by all the Mustangs on the road.

Yee: What is your biggest fear?

Grimes: My biggest fear is to be eaten by a shark. I watch way too much Shark Week.

Yee: What are some of your favorite hobbies?

Grimes: I love to play baseball and basketball. I am a diehard college football fan and I love watching the Oregon Ducks play.

Yee: What nicknames have you had?

Grimes: ‘Steve-O,’ and all my friends love to call me ‘Stephan.’

Yee: What talents do you have?

Grimes: I can play the drums and I am ambidextrous.

Yee: Do you think cheerleading is a sport?

Grimes: Well, people do consider NASCAR a sport, so I would say cheerleading is a sport.

Yee: What is your favorite movie?

Grimes: My favorite movie of all time would have to be Anchorman. Will Ferrell and Steve Carell in the same movie? Come on, that has to be the greatest movie ever.

Yee: What profession are you most interested in after graduating high school?

Grimes: I want to go into sports medicine. My goal is to become a head coach at a top NCAA university.

Yee: What has been your favorite memory from senior year so far?

Grimes: My favorite memory so far has probably been the team basketball trip to San Diego. I got to room with Alex Campama, Chandler Vargas and Tim Degroot, and there was nothing but laughter in that room.

Check back on Feb. 17 to learn more about junior Sarah Schoneman. For the previous installment, read the Jan. 20 article, Get to Know: Sabrina Kumar.
