AcaDec competes in Super Quiz (41 PHOTOS)

To conclude the 29th annual Fresno County Academic Decathlon Competition, held at Clovis East High School on Feb. 5, the eight-member AcaDec team participated in the Super Quiz.

For this event, each group — varsity, scholastic and honors — had to answer 10 questions about geology, the 2011 Super Quiz topic.

While the students sat with their proctors on the floor of the East Gym, spectators filled the bleachers and watched to see how their team fared in the competition.

Rich Rodriguez, an anchor at KMPH Fox 26, served as quizmaster for the event. He read each question aloud as it was projected on the screen for everyone to view. After Rodriguez finished reading the question, students had 10 seconds to select one of five possible answers on their score sheet.

The group gained one point for each correct answer. At the end of the Super Quiz, points were tallied and factored into the overall Super Quiz score.

The following slideshow features 41 photos from the event, showcasing varsity, scholastic and honors competitors, as well as fans and other figures.

Yes, coffee! My mom and I made a run to Starbucks to bring drinks back to my sister’s corner at 5:10 in the morning. It was not easy juggling two drink carriers with ten full, hot beverages but it was a success.

We also stopped by Judy’s Donuts and brought warm, sugary goodness to her and my corners!
