Blossom Trail signals spring growth (13 PHOTOS)

At this time of year, the Blossom Trail in Sanger boasts green grass, sprouting crops and not-yet-developed blooms on the barren trees.

Because winter is not quite over, only buds fill the branches, and the rivers are low. However, as the last of the orange crops are harvested (or left to rot on the ground), a few blossoms by neighboring farms begin to bloom.

After much searching, staff writer Dana King, ’12, found a single tree that had a few almond blossoms. They can be identified as flowers with white petals and pink centers. In addition to almonds, the trail is home to trees that bear plums, nectarines, apples and other citrus fruits.

This collection of photos, all taken by King, captures the surroundings of the Blossom Trail as they appeared on Feb. 15. As the spring season transforms the trail, The Feather will publish additional photos and slideshows.
