The annual tradition of Grandparents Day , Oct. 3, was a success. Many grandparents attended classes and lunch.
Leadership class helped with the Isabelle Anderson Masquerade Gala dinner on Oct. 4. Anderson is an eight year old girl with a rare case of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) which affects about 300 children nationwide every year, not many children survive DIPG.
The students helped serve the guests at the Gala, set up, and clean up after the event. The event was to raise money for the Anderson family to use for treatment and going through hard times.
The class will be finishing up public speaking and learning to listen by reading children’s books aloud and introducing a famous person in history, Oct.6.
Leadership will be involved in National News Engagement Day, Oct. 7. The class will be creating signs for the hallways promoting the event and helping out in any way needed. The goal is to engage everyone in the news. Everyone will be engaging by local news, social news, and national news.
Vickey Belmont, the leadership teacher, wants to involve as many students in this event as possible. Belmont believes that having students involved in the news is becoming rare and is a good idea to start promoting being involved.
“Having students involved in the news is great because they know what is going on locally, nationally, and socially.” Belmont said. “The leadership class is honored to be able to be involved this year.”
Leadership will be working on preparing Homecoming week, Oct. 27-31. The theme of homecoming is Hollywood. Every class will be working on building a float related to the theme. The class needs a trailer to hold the float and a location to hold the trailer at. Remember that the float must be able to be transport to the school.
The next home football game will be Friday, Oct. 10 against Kings Christian. Make sure to come out and support your Eagles!
