Brief: WSL meeting convenes in Tranquillity

While students may battle in every other aspect of school, leadership members of the West Sequoia League (WSL) met for the first meeting of the year. Leadership representatives from five different schools gathered at Tranquility High School, along with their advisors.

Students received a tour, played “ice breakers” and participated in All-League collaboration about activities and encouraging school spirit. Students like Megan Ginise, a senior from Firebaugh High School appreciates the opportunity to talk with other campus leaders, because of the new perspective.

“I think [WSL] is important,” Ginise said. “We get to come up with new ideas to bring back to our school and have more spirit in activities.”

ASB President Chandler Vargas, ’12, found importance in the meeting, because of the ideas he was able to bring back to FC.

“Last year Caruthers came up with the idea of ‘A Hand for Haiti’ where each student would buy a hand to put on the wall; each hand was a dollar and the money raised would be donated to Haiti,” Vargas said. “So, this year I thought it would be a good idea to do something similar to support the east coast with all the recent floods.”

Students will continue to meet throughout the school year to collaborate and encourage representatives from other schools. The next meeting is not yet scheduled. Be sure to return to this newspaper’s News Section for the next date.
