VOLLEYBALL, 2011

FC TOPS CARUTHERS IN FOUR–Oct. 10
The Eagles played Caruthers for their third league game on Oct. 10. FC came out hot and won the first set 25-19, but Caruthers answered back in the second to win 25-21. This induced two more games as the Eagles won each 25-20 and 25-21, 3-1.

Head coach Jeff Macneill says that although Caruthers had a good offense, the blockers did an excellent job on blocking.

“Sophomore Annaleah Madison was like a wall,” Macneill said. “No ball could get past her. Passing was awesome too. There were times that I thought the game was over but the girls dived for it and finished strong.”

Annaleah Madison, ’14, who got seven blocks total says that although she is satisfied with her blocks, she wants to get double the amount for the next game.

“We are playing Fowler next game,” Madison said. “They are one of the best teams we are going to play this season which means they will have a good offense. So I want to block more and not allow any balls to get on our court.I feel like my role as a blocker is very important to the team so I will try by best and not let the team down.”

Senior captain Katelyn Miller says that although they lost the first set, they were able to win the next three sets since they were willing to play as a team.

“When we lost the first game. we were disappointed,” Miller said. “But we came through as a team and Everyone’s chemistry just clicked and we played well.”

The Eagles will next play Fowler High at home, Oct. 13.
