VOLLEYBALL, 2011

Eagles lose to Cowgirls, 3-1–Oct. 20
The Eagles played the Riverdale Cowgirls and prior to the game they had 5 straight wins, but the record broke in their 3-1 loss, Oct. 20.

During the first set, the Eagles kept the scores tight but lost, 25-23. However, in the next set, they won, 25-16. In the final set, Riverdale stepped up and defeated the Eagles, 25-16.

Head coach Jeff MacNeill says that the team lost due to making consistent unforced errors. Despite the loss, he says the team is ready to be competetive again and win the upcoming games.

“We made errors that added up and cost us the game,” MacNeill said. “While that game was frustrating for the whole team, we are looking forward to Tuesday’s game where we will have a chance to go back and redeem ourselves. We know that nothing is going to be given to us this season and are ready to give everything we have to compete and win.”

According to the team’s libero Kristen Rosenthal, ’13, who had 1 ace and 11 digs, says she is disappointed with the way they played as a team.

“We need to improve on bonding as a team and pushing to win no matter what the circumstances. I am very disappointed with how we played and I feel like we could have played so much better.”

The Eagles will next host Tranquillity, Oct. 25.
