VOLLEYBALL, 2011

EAGLES DEFEAT TIGERS, 3-0–Oct. 25
The Eagles played the Tranquillity Tigers in a non-league game for their sixth win of the season, Oct. 25. FC won the first set, 25-13, and for the next two games they kept up the pace to win, 25-14, both sets.

Head coach Jeff MacNeill says senior captain Allison Camden, who had 6 aces, 5 kills, 15 assists, and 7 digs was the most outstanding player during the game. He is also proud of the other players for giving their best each point.

“Allison was involved in almost every point and was a leader on the court,” MacNeill said. “Every player, though, brought a level of intensity to the game that was impressive. The girls’ heart and determination showed on two plays in particular where it seemed that the point had been lost, but in both plays great dives were made and we ended up winning that rally.”

Freshman Gaby Siqueiros says although it felt refreshing to win, she knows the upcoming games will be more challenging.

“It felt really good to win again,” Siqueiros said. “We were all in it to win it and as a team we were focused on playing the very best we could. I expect there to be much more of a struggle for the next gam, but I know if we all play our best and stay focused we can win.”

Sophomore Annaleah Madison says that despite the loss against Riverdale, she is proud of her team for bouncing back and winning the game against Tranquillity.

“The last game against Riverdale was a hurtful experience to everyone on the team,” Madison said. “So winning this game kind of healed our team and boosted our confidence. I think as long as we are willing to stay positive and encourage each other, we are set for rest of the season.”

The Eagles will next host Caruthers, Oct. 27.
