VOLLEYBALL, 2011

EAGLES DEFEAT PARLIER, 3-0–Nov. 3.
The Eagles played Parlier High School on Nov. 3. The Eagles won in straight sets: 25-13, 25-10 and 25-16.

Head coach Jeff MacNeill says that the team played more of a relaxed game compared to the game against Fowler. He also enjoyed watching the girls play because they have improved excessively since the beginning of the season.

“The team’s cohesiveness has improved greatly since the beginning of the season,” MacNeill said. “Tonight, there were not 6 individuals on the court, but rather one team moving in unity. As a coach, that is when your job becomes enjoyable.”

According to senior Katelyn Miller, she is glad that the team won but she would rather play against more intense teams such as Fowler. But she believes that playing against different levels of teams will help the team get to the playoffs.

“The game against Parlier was boring,” Miller said. “I would much rather play harder teams because it makes us want to play harder. I definitely think we are ready for the play offs because we worked hard all season. And playing hard teams like Fowler shaped us.”

Junior Kristen Rosenthal says that although playing Parlier was an effortless match, she is content because the team got to try new moves and strategies during the game.

“It was easy playing Parlier,” Rosenthal said. “But it gave us an opportunity to try new plays that we usually don’t run. Which, we cannot do in tighter games. So I am glad that they helped us get ready for the play offs.”

The next game schedule will be announced on Nov. 5.
