Service as part of our mission

The recent community service day was a great day of service! This day showed that service comes in and is performed in many ways.

This day wasn’t billed as students serving off campus but instead serving within “our” community, including the ministries of Peoples Church who we share our campus with.

So far this year, Fresno Christian groups have served in such organizations as the Community Food Bank, the Fresno Parks and Rec. department, the Fresno Rescue Mission, Pinedale Elementary, World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse, and Angel Tree just to name a few.

Being a daily servant is part of our mission at Fresno Christian. This service should happen within our families, at school, in our churches, in our community and around the world. In other words, it should be a part of who we are.

I’m excited about having another all school service day next semester. This service day will occur off-campus, with students serving outside organizations. We will again give of our time and energy to serve others.

I’m also excited that at Fresno Christian we serve on a daily basis as well. This happens through our classes, our clubs, our athletic teams, and our music programs. Service shouldn’t be put in a box or limited to one category, but instead we should serve on a daily basis because Jesus was the ultimate example of a servant.
