BREAKING: NOTS theme announced

For the 18th annual Night of the Stars (NOTS), each class will produce a movie to be shown at dinner with an awards show immediately following, Feb. 18.

The event is to be held at the Grand 1401, located at 1401 Fulton Street in downtown. After weeks of debating, student leadership has come to a final decision. They have begun preparing to make the night as memorable as possible by planning decorations to make the atmosphere both realistic and engaging. The theme is set to be “Night in Paris.”

Supervisor Jane Gillespie looks forward to this take on NOTS, and appreciates the positive outlook shared by the leadership class.

“This year’s theme is different from what we’ve done in the past,” Gillespie said. “It was between Paris and a couple other really good themes, but everyone seems really excited about it. So, boys, start asking so you can start buying your tickets. It’s really going to be great.”

As classes prepare films, directors look forward to producing entertaining films that capture the essence of the the original movie.

Senior class film representative David Casuga looks forward to the finished product, but admits the process is daunting.

“Im really anxious this year, because this year is the first year I’m directing all by myself,” Casuga said. “It’s a tad bit stressful since I didn’t direct until last year and I hardly directed at all. Although I have a feeling that once we get rolling, everything will go very smoothly. I just hope that this year we will produce a film that all of the senior class can be proud of.”

Junior class representative Jessica Healy says her class’s ability to blend ideas and opinions have allowed the junior class efforts to run smoothly.

“So far, our movie is looking pretty good,” Healy said. “The actors definitley fit their roles and the script is hilarious. Even though we’re a bit behind, plans are moving fluidly; there aren’t any struggles to figure out who’s in charge of what and whether or not an idea should be in the movie. We all get along really well, so filming should be a breeze.”

NOTS tickets will be going on sale, Jan. 23. Early-bird pricing will be $50 and regular pricing will be $55. If a student asks someone to the event in a creative way, they can submit it to Student Leadership for a chance to win two free tickets.
