BOYS’ SOCCER, 2011-12

EAGLES STRUGGLE, PARLIER DOMINATES–Jan. 13
After coming off of a 5-0 loss to Fowler, Jan. 10, the Eagles once again failed to connect on offense against the Parlier Panthers and lost 8-1, Jan. 13.

Head coach Matt Markarian says the team needs to stick to the fundamentals learned in practice and soon things will fall into place.

“I am hopeful that we will apply the things we practice,” Markarian said. “I am confident that we will continue to play hard and I look forward to the next games. If we are going to be successful though we need to defend with a tenacity that we have not achieved this year.”

After missing the first half of the season, junior Domenic Mendoza says although they lost he was just glad to have the opportunity to play again.

“It got rid of a lot of anxiety that I’ve had by playing because I just wanted to get back on the field,” Mendoza said. “Just playing with my teammates again made it enjoyable whether we won or lost.

Mendoza continues on say the team has a lot of room for improvement in the upcoming practices.

“I think we needed to connect more in our passes and play more through balls,” Mendoza said. “We get better day by day and in the long run we will get better.”

The Eagles will next play their first home game of the season against Riverdale, Jan. 17.
