BOYS’ SOCCER, 2011-12

RIVERDALE CAPITALIZES AGAINST FC, 7-0–Jan. 17
The Eagles took on the Riverdale Cowboys for FC’s first home game of the season, Jan. 17. Riverdale caught FC flat footed from the whistle’s blow as they scored a goal within the first 10 minutes and continued on to win 7-0.

Second year player, Daniel Moore, ’14, says the team struggled, but the main reason for the loss was Riverdale’s knowledge of the game.

“I thought we played hard, we made a couple mistakes, but the main issue was just they were a lot better than us,” Moore said. “Most of our mistakes were based on them having better strategy, ball control, trapping and stuff like that.”

Despite the loss, junior JP Caprioglio still sees potential for the team if they persevere through the rest of the season.

“I think our team has much potential, I can see it in the way we practice,” Caprioglio said. “One aspect that really affects us as a team is how little experience we have playing with each other. I believe we can put up a stronger fight against these teams if we learn to put forth all are effort throughout each game.”

Moore continued on to say his one goal for this season in league is to pull a win out of the bag.

“It would be cool just to get a win,” Moore said. “We have to score early because whenever we get behind by two or three goals we just give up.”

The Eagles will next travel to play Tranquillity, Jan. 20.
