EAGLES EARN 2-1 WIN OVER
TRANQUILLITY, Jan. 20

Despite a lackluster first half against the Tranquillity Tigers, the Eagles regained focus during the second, which ultimately gave FC a 2-1 victory, Jan. 20.

The first few minutes of the game started out slow for both teams, as little communication was heard on the field. According to freshman Breanna Jennings, the team needs to improve in verbalizing with each other, but saw the girls finish strong against Tranquillity.

?I think our team needs to work on communication, trying harder and being first to the ball,? Jennings said. ?But I?m excited that we came back and scored more goals, and at the end we started to work better as a team, and came back and won.?

After 15 minutes into the game, sophomore captain Tynin Fries shot on goal, and made it past the Tiger?s goalie. The Eagles maintained control of the game throughout the first half, keeping the score, 1-0.

In the beginning of the second half, Tranquillity put one goal in, tying up the game 1-1. During the remainder of the second, the Eagles kept the ball on the Tiger?s side and pressured their defense.

The ball was set up in front of the goal, where senior Brooke Stobbe was positioned perfectly to pop it into the net. For the rest of the game, FC maintained control and finished the game with a 2-1 victory.

?I think we did really well with pushing on the goal and pressuring them to step up,? Rhyann Crain, ?15, said. ?We did well on passing, and Ivette [Ibarra, ’15], Gabby [Siqueiros, ’15] and Kaitie?s [King, ’14] thrown-ins were amazing. We did really good on making sure we stopped the ball, and pushing, peeking and passing. During half coach gave us a whole talk about showing that we actually wanted to win the game, which I think helped motivate the girls.?
