The 40th episode of “FC Underground,” covers the week of Jan. 23-27, 2012. “FC Underground” is a weekly segment hosted by Brooke Stobbe, ’12, and Callista Fries, ’15, and produced by Austin Rurik, ’12.
The talk since school opened on Monday was the boys basketball team’s game against Caruthers. Both teams have won 15 games and the WSL title is already on the line. However, the Blue Raiders have beaten the Eagles seven years in a row.
However, the week gets started with parent softball and baseball meetings on Monday at 6 p.m. There is also a Spanish Club meeting at lunch for the officers and a Friday lunch meeting for all members is scheduled.
On Tuesday, the CSF applications are due. Be sure to include the $5 fee and an up-to-date copy of high school transcripts.
Additionally, the Lady Eagles will join the boys as well as both soccer teams for the 45 minute south for a four game athletic showdown, Jan. 24. The girls soccer game begins at 4:30 p.m., boys at 6 p.m., the girls basketball game starts at 6:30 p.m. and the boys match-up is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
With Wednesday a half day, the rest of the week will fly by but be sure to buy Night of the Stars (NOTS) tickets this week. They are $50 each for the Feb. 18 winter formal.
Finally, those who have a talent and are willing to showcase it to all of the WSL schools should start practicing for the Feb. 6 Talent Show auditions.

The segments consist of news, interviews, profiles and comments on campus life. Each episode is between two and three minutes in length.
“FC Underground” first ran in the fall of 1997 and continued until the spring of 2001. In the fall of 2009, editor-in-chief Suzanna Quiring, ’10, resumed the series, which was then produced by Paige Powell, ’10. After Quiring and Powell graduated, Stobbe and Casuga took up the job until this year.

I really enjoyed the ensemble’s part of the “Hopeful” concert last week. The group sang with excellence, and their message was clearly delivered. I like the choices everyone made for their concert uniforms, too.
